Gamma-ray astronomy (1968-1975):
- design, development and testing of detectors for the European satellites TD-1A and COS-B
- data analysis and interpretation of gamma ray measurements on the TD-1A and COS-B satellites
X-Ray astronomy (since 1976):
- data analysis of balloon-borne and satellite detector measurements of the X-ray binary Her X-1
- software development for the X-ray imaging telescope ROSAT
- generation of X-ray catalogues
- identification of ROSAT sources
- investigation of clusters of galaxies
