AGN Spectral Energy Distribution: its origin and influence on emission line ratios and kinematics

Accretion models predict that a range of spectral energy distributions from AGN should be observed, dependent on black hole mass and accretion rate. It has long been thought that the broad line region emission lines should reflect the range of spectral energy distributions. I present and discuss evidence that the shape of the spectral energy distribution influences both the emission line ratios and kinematics.
