To whom this may concern,

I was trying to install PERL 5.8.8 on my AS/400 V5R2 machine and
received the following:

> sh Configure -de

  (I see you are using the Korn shell. Some ksh's blow up on Configure,

  mainly on older exotic systems. If yours does, try the Bourne shell
instead.

  )

  Configure: Fatal Error: I can't find a Bourne Shell anywhere.

  Usually it's in /bin/sh. How did you even get this far?

  Please contact me (Perl Maintainers) at perlbug@perl.org and

  we'll try to straighten this all out.

  #

I wish to compile this instead of loading the binaries for AIX as I've
had issues loading subsequent modules. I am using the GCC compiler. I
am also a relative novice in this environment, but I can follow
instructions well.

Thank you for any assistance you can offer.
